THE BEGINNING OF ORGANIZING FBT IN ORLANDO

FAMILY BASED TREATMENT FOR EATING DISORDERS IN ORLANDO. Well, this is the first sentence of the first post of me trying to set up an FBT program in Orlando.  I have been writing down my thoughts and keeping notes and to-dos and trying every way I can think of to help me collect all of the small and large information I am collecting that will be valuable in the success of creating FBT treatment in Orlando.  What is FBT - Based on the Maudsley method of treating girls and adolescents with eating disorders. The FBT/Maudsley methods make the parent the center of treatment rather than removing the child from the family and treating the collateral mental issues of eating disorders as opposed to the FBT of treating the starvation first.  I found this method after two years of the worst experience of my life caused by the traditional methods and attitudes about eating disorders for my 10 year old child.  I found this on my own and one of the first places that I looked at was ">Maudsley Parents and FBT Parent Message Boards hosted by Laura Collins and F.E.A.S.T.  

So, now whenever I find something important and do not know where to put it, I will put it here and also make important notes because I believe it is going to take me a year to get this thing going in Orlando.  

Today, I have three things I want to post.

1. There was a WEEKEND TODAY show today this morning with Joy Bowers who talked about one of her reality TV competition she hosted with people in the workplace and she had a slide up during the show that looked like the way we re-feed, with the same procedures of rewards and outcome based system.  I tried to find the show on-line but could not find it.  
2. I want to create a cook book or have a resource manual for the families in treatment on food and ways to increase calories similar to Maudsley Parents and FEAST cookbook and give them names of the weight gain stuff I found like the scandishake and the liquid calories that i had to order from pharmacy.
3. I want to start putting my notes and ideas in a PP presentation to eventually present to doctors and Nemours about FBT
